HI guys... my new map!

-
I counted 62 brushes, how about you guys?
-
its a cheap and small map but i think its fun to play it!!!
-
Post removed
-
It could use some obstacles.
-
Yeah, that looks way too easy for a pong map -- first person to kick wins, basically...
-
Here is what the stupid donkey mappers forgot to say. Nice attempt good to see someone is interested in a Simple mod. Perhaps make it bumper pool pong!!! U can do it dyann
-
Uh... mod? It's a map. The 'pool' Pong actually sounds cool.
/me is on that.
-
to me its a game mod :)
we play on a map
-
i cant c the pictures but im guessing its a soccer map. the only map i have played poing on is arenaball n its kinda boring and annoying
-
Pics are broken, not working for me.
-Termin8oR
-
and dl link too
i want to get this map, can anyone re-post it up?
-
http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer_b1.bsp (http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer_b1.bsp) - But it's a very crappy map.
-
thanks bitmate...its awesome!!
the goals are maybe too big though
-
And the red team (I think it's the red team) has a disadvantage, cause they have to turn around before they can shoot at the ball.
If you're in a 1v1, your opponent can easily make serveral goals before you even saw the ball ;)
-
haha... i think if it was bigger, with smaller goals and the reds allowed to face the right way, it would be ok.
-
Just found another ( and bigger ) football map, which, I think, was made by Pimp.
http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer888.bsp (http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer888.bsp)
-
lool sexy bit, but i think it isn't a pong map eh? I need the mapfile, but no idee how i can get that..
-
yeah that looks cool, exactly what i was looking for, but it doesn't support pong!!!
-
I think an .ent - file will help ? Something like "gamemode" ".." (whatever pong is) ...
-
du bist abartig klug bit (mein ich ernst)
i will see what i can do with a .ent file
-
Here is a little .ent file to play this map with the gamemode pong.
Download the file and save it as a .ent-file.
I think I will do a new pong-football map, this is old and full of bugs.
-
After having some troubles with the name (I wrote "soccer88" instead of "soccer888"), here is my ent - file:
http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer888.ent (http://bitmate.bi.funpic.de/paintball/soccer888.ent)
***edit: Sorry Pimp, I haven't seen your post. :-[
-
The ball can go out of the map can you repair it?
I think that this ent with mor spawn is better http://pbclanfr.free.fr/Fichiers/soccer888.ent (http://pbclanfr.free.fr/Fichiers/soccer888.ent)
-
well, we had a footie match today with this map, and a few errors were noticed.
- the ball can go out of touch, and get stuck between the lines and the endge of map.
- it can also go right out of the map, never to be seen again.
- to the right of one goal, i think maybe the red one, the textures all mess up when you go there.
- also, i think it may be better without the walls...
:P
-
Im telling you this would be funner on Ice and if you would call it hockey. :)
-
i'd only be laughing at you guys thinking you were playing a "sport"
:P

this map is about a half year old, i know it's full of bugs and i think it makes no sense to repair it, I will make a new football map...
-
lol i'm playing football (soccer) in real life, so shhh
-
:)
i kinda like that style of that map though, without the walls i mean.
-
so, i've done another soccer map
have a look...
-
its good!
but a few things:
- needs to be bigger.
- the goals need to have netting. the ball can go behind right now and who knows if its a goal.
- it would be cool if the sky was maybe like a stadium or a crowd or a field. kinda looks wierd playing football on the top of a mountain.
- would be good ifyou wern't allowed off the pitch, and outside of the pitch maybe add a dugout or something.
- was there corner flags? i cant remember but they are good.
also, is there a way to stop people from being able to shoot in the server? because the kills are really annoying.
also how would i make a goal scored be worth 1 point.?
ty pimp
:)
-
- yeh a net would be great, but i have no idea how i can do this, i think it exists something useful, a model or something like this, i'm looking for it
- I can change the sky but I will not make a new only for this map... and I have no idea to make a sky :)
- I think its funny to play outside of the field, if you mean that, on the last you couldn't pass the line, I think thats disturbing. Also the corner flags are disturbing if they can be circulated.
- If a goel counts 1 point, you have to shot 50 goals, thats very much
I also think that would be great, but no Idee how to avoid shooting
-
well with regards a net. how about just a box kinda thing like what is on the soccer888 map i think.
the only reason i said about not being allowed outside of the pitch is if things like dugouts were added fow aesthetics, but its not a biggie.
i think corner flags would be nice, not sure what you mean by "disturbing".
and with regards to the points, i can just change the maxscore to 10 lets say, but having 1 point per goal would mean it is a more realistic football match score.
-
You can set "nokill" to 1, and it will prevent shots from killing people. It'll launch them around, though. :)
There's a fence texture included in build 16 that you could use for the net.
-
I'm going to tinker with the goals a bit. I measured out regulation size goals, and they're a little smaller than what's on here, so they should work well.
-
Nice, when can we test it?
-
Here's a screenshot and the new version. I think it'll be simpler to just call it "soccer.bsp" -- and since it's beta, maps/beta/soccer_b2.bsp
-
Nice. But might I ask why this is being worked on? Is it for the goal, or the map?
I hope it's not the map.
-
:)
thats pretty cool.
i like the idea of making the sky dark, fixed one problem. and the goals look pretty smart too. (and dancing on top of them after scoring is a great feeling)
How about making the floodlights a little further back, when the ball gets stuck to them its annoying.
I think some nice thin corner flags may be good, i'd like to dance around them after a score the winner.!
i also got around the problem of kills and shooting by setting gun temp to high.
-
I like the map, but I think the walls of soccer888 were cool too, making it not toooo easy to score..
anyways, the map could still be alot bigger (scoring from own goal = excrement )
also the goals could be a bit higher (and if the field is sooo small like now, smaller, Idk word but not so far from left side to the right side of goal, scoring is too easy!!)
-
well i don't think walls should be included, i thought they were the worst feture!
i'm undecided about whether it should be bigger or not. being able to shoot makes a big difference too, so if you mean scoring by shooting the ball in the goal, try it with that option turned off.
currently the max players to make a good game seem to be 4v4, so a bigger map for more players maybe.
(and how do you score own goals?!?, i find that many own goals are not scored at all)
and the goals i think are exactly the right size!!
-
I doant mean owngoals, I mean that I can shoot a goal from my own goal (shoot over whole map) that sucks..
oh no, its sooo easy to score a goal theyre too big, but they could be a lil bit higher!
-
Well, I did some more measurements, and it looks like this map is about half as big as a regulation size field, so I'll make it bigger.
-
i think the goal size should be the same though. and it shouldn't be so easy to score if one of the team acts as a goalkeeper. i mean if there is no gk, you can pretty much score from anywhere (as it would be in real life) but with a goalkeeper it becomes considerably harder.
-
I think from the middle scoring without gk is still not SO easy.. if map gets bigger like jitspoe said, goals can stay in that size of course!!! (or even bigger?) but they still should be higher!
-
you need to practice a different technique then i think. there is a way to kick the ball fast and far, but still keeping it low. they really shoudln't be any higher.
-

New version:
-
its definately big, you could have a real match on that! as long as people stuck to their positions.
still think the floodlights should be away from the line markings though.
i like the score too, ty jits :P

-
You can't have such variable stuff as scoreboards, unfortunately. But it would be something cool to implement...
-
one thing i've noticed for me on te larger map is that the middle is kinda dark. The floodlights only light up the sides of the pitch and i find it kinda hard to see players down the middle.
-
map size is good now, but goals are unrealistic! they have to be higher!!!!
the score is cool now!
P!nks scoreboard iidea is really cool just not possible:-(
-
According to my google searches, "The standard size regulation goal is 8-feet high by 24-feet (8 yards) wide." That's how tall I made the goals, assuming the player is 6 feet tall. I think it works fine. It's still fairly easy to score. You just have to learn how to aim your kicks.
A scoreboard would require code modifications, but it can certainly be done.
http://www.scfc.co.uk/flyby.html -- it'd be cool to make a full stadium like that.
-
oh yes...
-
yehaaa!:D
umm, I want really brighter floodlights, but I cant make it myself, Im new to bsp... can u tell me how to fix that?
-
brighter floodlights and less of them too
one in each corner and maybe at the middle line too, and please move away from the line! that is not how it is in reality!
with less floodlights you can add more lights to each stand to make it brighter, and maybe lifting htem higher so the light covers a greater area of the pitch?
-
If I were to make some kind of stadium like what lekky posted, where would the ligts go? Are those lights all along the top edge there?
-
yeah, in the neu camp the lights are along the top.
i think you can see how lights are used at old trafford in a row at the top
(http://users.wfu.edu/valeje4/Old%20Trafford.JPG)
or here at the madejski stadium (now in the premiership)
-
yep goals up there, just like in Allianz Arena, the new big soccer stadium in munich:
-
A whole stadion might be a bit too big :P .
So we should consider playing on something like that:
P.S.: Thanks for the new (old) smilies ;D
-
that one has no floodlights though!!
-
But it has a sun, right?
-
It's supposed to have one... lol
Question: Does the football/soccer match really need to be at night? If it's not at night, the map won't need any floodlights and as a consequence, the mappers must not take any further considerations on that topic.
-
Kinda my point in asking that question, but yeah.
-
I created a little and simple "stade". I think something like that is enought
(http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7609/sshot0193ie.jpg)
-
A stadium made of stone? Looks mighty uncomfortable. :)
-
thats what you get at teh "grass roots" level. basically for people to stand on, but the kids and women tend to sit on them (and it is very uncomfortable).
i don't know if the ball can go in the stadium in pinps map, but that wouldn't be very good. and there is still the problem of the floodlights. theres simply too many
and bitmate, i think it was done at night to avoid being on the top of a mountain, though i guess there could be a more suitable sky. i think that dark with decent floodlights would be nicer to play than a daytime one perhaps
-
heh jit, map looks nice! anyways, le floodlights are in the way and ball shouldn be able to go out onto the stadium...
maybe just Textures of a stadium outside, would that be possible? some huuge panorama outside the map instead of stars or the sky....
anyways, it shouldnt be "by Pimp" anymore, since jit did the whole map:D
btw... ball can get out of the map again!! (look at my demo!)
-
I've encountered another problem with _b4.
Demo is attached.
@ AgentSmith: It's still Pimp's map ;)
-
i think it hasn't to look absolutely great, an old stadium of stone is nothing unusual. this map is only a idee to be advanced...
-
Bit, tell me what of the map is made by Pimp then?
its completely jitspoe since _b2 ...
-
I don't care a pap for it. Thats fine by me if you call it 'by Jit', and i think Jit isn't really interested in setting his name to the creator of this map. Jit only wants to help me and to create a great map...
-
Maybe we should just kill the byline and leave it a mystery for generations to come. ;)
-
:o
-
Great Idea,
In 2000 years all the ppl will wonder who made that great soccer map for paintball 2 :D
-
something like this around the field?
-
:( then it'd be like the italians or the turkish
isn't there a way to let players leave the pitch boundaries, but not the ball?
-
Not currently. You could do the opposite, though.
-
:|
-
Played this map for the first time today. Its fun to play soccer on, but the floodlights get in the way alot :( I really like what pimps done with the boundaries. :)
-

-
There is a clip brush to the sky, it can't go trought i think.
If you die, you have 5 seconds till you respawn, thats a really short time to have fun outside
-
Hm, there are cliff teytures, but the ball can get through them!!
I made a screenshot, just look at it!
-
Cliff textures? ub_cliff??
-
the ball needs to stay within the boundaries of the pitch first and foremost.
if this means that players cannot leave the pitch either then so be it.
less and higher floodlights that light up the whole pitch, not just the sides. (or if you are making a stadia, many lights at the top.
dugouts?
-
hmmm, so I learned that the ball can pass a clip-brush...
A dugout is a nice solution to do the lights on a good place
-
Well, two things you could do:
1) put a trigger_hurt in the stadium seat area, so if the ball does make it over, it immediately gets reset.
2) put trigger_push's around that direct the ball back to the center of the field. You should still put trigger_hurts behind the fences so that there's no chance the ball gets stuck.
When using large trigger entities, scale the texture way up so lighting doesn't take forever (trigger entities still get compiled and lit even though you can't see them).
-
yeh thanks for this help, actually i have done a triggger_hurt over the net around the whole field, I tried something like a "roof", i think it doesn't looks bad, but the center is still dark... i have to improve this
-
oooh pimp, looks cool. release the beta!
but please no roof that covers the whole thing...
-
Now it's starting to look like a real stadium! I think having the lights on the posts and the lights along the top is a bit redundant and you wouldn't see that in a real stadium. Just make the lights on top brighter.
-
you would have a very tall floodlight in each corner, but not around the sides of the pitch
-
hmm yeh i think also that 2 different lights is unusual, but if only the rooflight is on, then it could be very dark on some other places.. hmm..
- the stade_2b looks very nice :)
-
Sexy. If you want the dark bit in the middle gone, you could use this tutarial:
http://www.gamedesign.net/node/45
-
irl, the dark bit isn't as bad as the floodlights are really really high, and so cover the whole surface of the ptich. i.e the 2 floodlights you have at the end of the ptich would be much taller, and also in the corners.
in the pics i posted before, the lights on the actual stadium cover the whole thing. and as you're using these, there is no need for the floodlight stands down the side of the pitch.
the roof is starting to look good :)
is there potential to add more than one tier to the stands? then you could have banners over the highest one giving support for each team. and also how about making the side boards have advertising?
and also dugouts :P
-
You can increase the brightness of lights, so being too dark shouldn't be a problem.
-
Piimp I want the maap :D
how about you set a beta download link here?
-
so far so good... here the newest version i think
here the .bsp file (http://multiterra.mooload.com/file.php?file=files/150406/1145120606/soccer_pimp5.bsp)
here the .map file (http://damuyo.da.funpic.de/maps/soccer_pimp5.map)
-
thanks:D
map owns! Ill go search bugs in it now:D
edit: The roof of the stade looks a bit Huuuge, It even goes over the field, it should be a bit smaller though...
-
It seems the ball doesn't need to actually go into the goal to score. If it just touches the edge, it counts. We should probably move the trigger back a little.
-
When i try to download the latest .bsp file i get this message
:
Hello - We regret to say that we had major failure of our systems, and unfortunatly all files were lost. You are free to reupload your files here. We can only apolagise for this, as such we have removed all traffic limits in the hope that we can get the sites popularity back!

:
anyone else have a link? i think this map looks really sweet and can't find another place to try it out.
-
Just connect to the soccer server and download it from there.

I think I'm going to try to finish this map up. It's been sitting around in the "almost done" state for some time. I think all that really needs to be done is extend the triggers for the ball going out of bounds and maybe make the bleachers and border look a little less medieval.
-
Sounds good, I know for a week or so soccer_pimp5 was played non stop, and was tons of fun. Hockey pong would be pretty sweet :P
-
Ok, here it is:
http://dpball.com/files/maps/soccer1.bsp
And the .map source: http://dpball.com/files/mapmaking/mapfiles/soccer_pimp5_jit1a.map
Edit: And the mapinfo file: http://dpball.com/files/maps/mapinfo/soccer1.txt
-
Maybe we should just kill the byline and leave it a mystery for generations to come. ;)
you still remember?
i was just confused that there is no 'made by' under the mapname..
