Well, yesterday I was making a new texture for a map (deranged can confirm), and in the process, I overwrote the texture metal5_8. I forgot about that until today when I joined a pick-up game with MaDMaN and a few others. Then I noticed some of my textures were screwy, and saw it was the one I was making. So, I have deleted the texture now, and I'm waiting for an ban.
I didn't get a mod content warning though...

First, he didnt hack. The word you're looking for is cheat. Second, he was simply creating a custom texture for his map or whatever, and in the process a stock texture got modified by accident (trust me, this happens when you develop something for dp) and for some reason the mod detection didnt appear.
Sure, give him his 8 ban, since technically he did cheat. I just find it funny that you would want to give him a 32 day ban, as if you would win something.

the following questions must be asked when judging this situation: no matter what his intentions were in this case (which can not be proven, blablabla, but I'd believe him here), do you want other people to be able to bring forward similar excuses when they had other intentions and got caught? Because, if you let this happen without punishment, it opens up holes in the law system for others. Precedent case, or whatever you'd call that.

From the sounds of it, you crashed at least 6 servers. The committee felt that was too much to let slide, sorry.

Wow I love how these people all jump on the opportunity to make someone feel like a male sexual organ (especially a respected member of this community). It was a simple mistake and I believe Jits won't do anything to him for two reasons:
1. He admitted to it right away. If the report even shows on the cheat detection system, Jitspoe will see that it was a one time occurrence and that he admitted to it.
2. He didn't get a modded content warning so it will most likely mean the cheat detection system didn't even pick it up. (hopefully)

Don't ban me either, cos I have modified most of the hr4 textures. He didn't change the texture to pure whute or something like that, he was creating a new texture.
I'll even provide a link to my hr4 textures for anyone that wants it so you can all use them. Ban4life for distributing hacks?

So, making hr textures is ok, but creating NEW textures with a control panel (I wonder why there should be control panels anyways o.O) should result in a ban?
Kind of interesting that it's most likely German players complaining about that case, who, despite their own ban topics, never post on this forums.

EDIT: Yeah, he was just making a custom texture with corresponding r_script for a map me and him are kicking around, shouldn't be a big deal :)

I'm sure he wouldnt ban you, and we would not have to listen to all this germans whining about they getting banned for just hacking all the servers in the game, and you who almost killed this game with this silly texture (what do you want it for anyway?) not getting banned.

Btw vic, I don't even think it's detectable if you modify your textures because I have a poop-load of edited hr4 to make my game look almost half decent.

Modifying textures is not hacking, it's a form of cheating, and that's only if it is done to give you an advantage. As of now theres no detection for this stuff though so don't worry about it.

he probably just named and saved them not knowing that there was already a texture with that name.... don't think its wrong if it was an accident and he didn't use it for an advantage...
If ya'll want him banned then why not ban all map builders for making custom textures on their own map?

Yes and no. If it was illegal 99% of this forum would be banned.

Wtf? why would he be banned? Sure you can't change textures, but that guy contributes to the digital paintball community more than most of us. They didn't change the textures for cheating, but to increase our enjoyment and love of the game.
There is no serious way he could be banned

I changed a few of my normal (not hr4) textures. I made those hideous crates better and the crappy looking grip texture used on the ladders in propaint1. Maked it look gud.

jitspoe i dont no why but for some reason everytime i turn on paintball it says something like u have modified content and if its used online it will result in a gloabal ban i have no idea what happened??? I dont no how to modify anything lol what do i do so i dont get banned???

No, just clear.
In some cases just a reinstall is fine. In most, a complete deletion of their current install then a clean reinstall will curethe majority of issue.

You can copy your config file down before you do anything to save all of your scripts and binds, etc. That way when you reinstall you won't have to set all of your personal stuff back up afterwards.

You should be able to just install the full version over your existing install. That way you'll keep all of your custom maps, config, etc.

(if u remember me and twistdid doin menus and just other excrement)
i always had on my computer the full installation of dp and i would backup my maps,env, and textures... reinstall, copy and paste, vwaalahh
