Have had this map almost done for months now, and finally decided to put the finishing touches in today. In light of all the recent, poorly lit maps being released, here is one that won't hurt your eyes to look at. Some of the images are from early, early alpha stages, so they might differ from the version that is available for download now. Also, you will need the ctp1 texture pack, otherwise you will be missing quite a few textures, just search the forums for them and install them correctly.

-Maybe Around the parking lot have a fence or something. so that it doesnt just "end" and go off into space
-That front grate that you can crouch through gives you "walls" into the main hall? area and the front patio. maybe take that grate out and just have an opening or something. See that much could significantly change the game ?

Cool. I've always wanted to make a bank theft map (but I'd know I would never finish it...).
Scale wise, you feel like a midget when you are going around. The railings are eye level and the doors are insanely tall.
The textures are a bit repetitive. Have the ceiling a different texture, at least.
Clutter! It feels really empty. If you could make use of some models, that would be great.

The fence idea will work, but it kind of won't fit seeing as no building is surrounded by fencing. So the sky needs to be the end. For the most part, I can't see that being a huge deal.
The grating I can delete, but the point of it was to block visibility, do you know if I make it thinner, would it still do this "wallhack?"
Last time I looked at this map was probably a good 3-4 months ago, and I probably missed a few things back then, and passed over them today, I'll look into that.

Not quite sure how to make it seem smaller without doing hours upon hours of remaking, so if you want, you can toss out some of the major problems, and I'll gladly work on those.
A suggestion for a ceiling would be wonderful, I tried a few textures and none of them seemed to fit.
Models, eh, I was waiting for y00tz's office type models, but alas, haven't seen much progress on that since the last time I've looked at the map.

I remember when I played the first few demos of it. It is way better than I ever thought possible for a map like this.
Love everything, just maybe a little too dark. But that's just me.

You could try putting a stature out front, depends if you want to or not.

You could add more lights in the bank.. Its too dark

Yeah, it´s easy to camp a flag. You can make some faster escape way with flag too. And I didn´t find any point of clip brushes on the roof, it made me mad. Same with strange double jump on back of a bank. You should make it easier for newbs, just put here classic doublejump.

Ok, well, I did some miniaturizing of the railings and doorways. Also, I added a catwalk around the top of the lobby, if you have suggestions, please, let me know.
By the way, you get to the catwalk by using the staircase that leads to the roof.

I added a sunroof type deal, also, I deleted the clips off the top of the roof, but kept the clips which server the purpose I originally set them for.

Thinning the glass is fine, I was actually thinking of that anyway, and if there's anything else that looks odd, needs to be tweaked, let me know.

I think you should get a new spot for the flag it could be easly camped and sorry bout what i said before. just i dont like people talking about my maps
Also make the ceiling a diff texture it looks wierd with the brick walls and cieling
maybe even make a custom texture of money and put it in some open safes
maybe add a billboard outside like bank of america

The light that the screenshot is pointing at...in the sun roof thing looks to be missing the side of the texture, but only on 1 side. Thats only from looking at the screenshot.

Fixed that light, I was off by one unit when aligning it, thanks Rick.
As for the ceiling, I'm having trouble finding one I like, but I did do a final compile with this one. Please, let me know if you have better texture ideas, or if this one suits the map.

Any bland whitewash-type textures should do it, I'm not sure a bank would have Artex though... (That texture is from a photo of my ceiling :D)

I like that ceiling better now. But I'd suggest you to really add some trees outside and plantpots inside, because it's really empty and looks tedious. And for downstairs, would be nice if there were metal detectors or something like that.

That's what I was thinking, but I can't find anything a bit darker that doesn't look more off than this.

Well, a pretty major set back. My hdd data was wiped, and the last version I have of this map is the first beta. It'll probably take me a few weeks to get it back to where it was, and it might take longer just because of the amount of stuff that needs to be added including stairwells and entities. So yeah, I'm a little bummed, but if this map was going no where anyway, just tell me so I don't even need to bother.

If its a bank theme, and you need brushes for the inside, maybe you should add a teller desk. If not that then maybe a customer service desk and the line belts. Also, plants are a good idea like someone suggested before. There is not much you can add in a bank unless you went all out and added a vault.

Rick has been so kind to have decompiled my beta 3 for me. I have fixed all the decompiller errors and have started redoing some of the stuff I have added for beta 4. I am also currently working on learning how to use models, since I have never used any before I am struggling a bit, but don't worry, I'll try and add some plant life for beta 4 before I release any other betas.

Well, crap. I didn't realize there were more betas than 1, so I recorded a demo with suggestions on that one. Grabbing beta 3 now. I'm uploading all the betas to the beta server, and I'll post some feedback on beta3 shortly.

well not all siege maps are crap...like siege castle i kinda like siege castle and u have to admit this map is rlly good ...
in one of the screenshots i dont like the parking lot ideia it has too much space if it had like some cars in the middle it would be better believe me...but still its a map i would do some tourneys with my friends...congrats!

Recorded another demo of beta 3. A lot of the stuff from the first demo still applies. Don't forget to put a message in your worldspawn to title your map.

Added some models to the front and a getaway car which happens to be a bit sporty, but meh, the bad guys gotta get away somehow.
Also made some benches for the basement area, and one for out front so you can loiter if you don't feel like helping your team.

Before I release the next beta, I'm going to double the amount of stairs so jitspoe doesn't eat me. Also gonna clip some stuff.
Jitspoe - for that point in the demo where you were confused about the ladder elevator rope type deal, you climb it on the side, it opens the main doors so you can see in the lobby and shoot from there. I thought it was a neat idea so I have kept it as an elevator brush.

I've played thia a few times on the beta server (and others i think) and it is OK, but it's a bit too easy to attack - what with all the entrances. It's gameplay for the defenders is more like camping than defending. Aldo, people attacking dont use the other entrances (the roof, etc.), and when they do, by the time that they have reached the roof, the rest of the team are dead and they're getting shot at from below through the gaps in the glass. It's more of a match map then a pubber's map... which is good except i dont think many people like to use siege maps as their matching map.

I actually liked this map when I played it in a pub. Much better than every other siege map imo. I also like the large number of entrances. Also, the map looks really good.

Haven't worked on it much lately, but thanks for the feedback, whenever I get around to the next beta, that will be my last. I am kind of sick of mapping this, and every thing that needs fixed is so minor, and I got alot of it anyway.

I am officially done with this map now, it has been sitting around way to long. I have gotten to most of your suggestions, but some I have not, anyway here it is. Bankrob final is here. Have fun with it, and I would love to play test it with some of you guys later, considering I haven't even had the pleasure to try my own map yet lol.
Edit: I still forgot to put in the loading message, lol. I'll repost the map when the compile is done. (It only takes about 30 minutes, I'll post around then, or whenever I get home.)

I did notice one thing that you NEED to fix - when adding models to the map, you need to use the md2 extension, even if it's a SKM file. If you specify the skm file, it will download just the skm file and not the SKP file, then the client will crash. In short, it will empty just about every server it comes up on.

Hmm, yeah I didn't know that, so I just got around to finishing that up today. If there are any other things people should do with models, you may want to have Garrett add some help files to his mapping resource guide. (I was new to models, since this was my first map that actually used any of them.)

Chef killer, that bug is similar to the one in pbcup pforest on the hump, it just shows up and I have no idea why. It doesn't affect anything, so I figured not too much harm done.

We played it in our training. It is interesting and has a good gameplay for 3vs3 or 4vs4. The flag is very campable (u can get it, but u cant run out fast enough :P), but i think thats normal on siege maps.

The fast respawn will make flag grabs much harder and will be a lot of fun!

Hmm, on a siege, after you die you are out of the game. Thus, the respawn time doesn't work. So the newbies will moan because they want to respawn, but can't cos they are out of the game ;)

I guess the skm/md2 download problem isn't really an issue anymore with the latest game version (it forces it to md2), so I'm moving this to completed maps. Does anybody have the car model? Sk89q's download links no longer function.
