This thread is intended for those who wish to purchase a server from a host.
If you are trying to start a server from home your looking in the wrong place (http://digitalpaint.therisenrealm.com/admins/intro).
anyway, I noticed a few threads asking where to buy DP servers. I think getting a nice clump of information in the same spot might alleviate at least a few unneeded posts. Im starting off with a few that i know about but if anyone else would like to offer any additional links or recommendations post up and ill update the list.

Good Post.
-
V,
You might want to post/include pricing and specific packages that will facilitate the running of a dp server as not all packages will.
Might also want to specify WinBloz vs. *nix.
Just a thought
-
Added a few links and revised the list a bit.
There are a few places getting back to me so ill post up when they do.
Knack, do you happen to know of any good W Vs. L articles? I found a few but there a long and rambling read.
-
^ the answer to windows or linux is to: choose linux.
But really if people are getting a server and wouldn't know what to choose, then they can look at this pretty table with colors on it. http://webdesign.about.com/od/webhosting/l/bl_windows_v_linux.htm :P and usually they have details to their W vs. L servers on the hosting sites.
-
I prefer Linux for hosting, mainly because I know it better than Windows hosting. :P
Either way, add GoDaddy to that list. I use them for website hosting, and I'm satisfied so far. They have both Virtual and Regular dedicated servers for both Windows and Linux. You can even customize your box's hardware.
Virtual: http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/virtual.asp?ci=9013&display=virtual
Dedicated: http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/dedicated.asp?ci=9014&display=dedicated
Edit:
Pre-Configured
Extreme Cyber Games (http://www.extremecybergames.com/)
OS: Windows
$1.49 per player
Whoa, they list a DP server on their front page.
-
V,
I wouldn't even think of using a winblowz box for a game server so I really wouldn't worry about it.
-
Whoa, they list a DP server on their front page.
Even in their server pricing they give Digital Paint its own option. Fancy.
-
added godaddy to the list
I like the free ssl cert promotion.
XCG isnt a bad place but they tend to get weird with answering emails. There not a bad place to start tinkering.
Anything higher than 16 players you might as well move onto a vps.
-
www.wyenet.com
I had a dedicated nix box with them for years.
SUpport was awesome: Call was answered in 2 rings or less, they asked if it was a linux or winblowz issue, and then transfered you to another live person in the states.

Edit:
Whoa, they list a DP server on their front page.
Thats the Starz Match server.
-
Thats the Starz Match server.
Actually no. I'm pretty sure that's Superman's pub, or the 3 Inches of Blood server is what it's called now.

Extreme Cyber Games

You're welcome

You should add the location of servers down. Something simple i.e. by continent (North America, Europe etc...)
-
A UK geared review of cheapvps:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=643680
-
CheapVPS.co.uk
Location: UK, Maidenhead or US, Dallas
Price: $10 - $54 (£5- (for 2-32 paintball servers worth of bandwidth/RAM)
Used the UK facility to provide the short-lived UTi servers - may be using it again soon.
Their UK servers have ~110 ping for US and Euro, and 30 for me :D:D:D
-
http://cheapvps.co.uk/plans
That shows the pricing plan. Even the 10 dollar one could run one server easily, and Viciouz thinks probably two 16 slot servers. The only question mark would be the bandwidth.
The second package is 20 a month and they ran three servers on it. That would be considerably cheaper than three configured servers from Extreme Cyber Games, as they are $1.50 per slot. Even Three 8 slot servers with ECG would run you 36 bucks a month.
The other advantage is that they have separate, fixed, US pricing, so that you don't have the always fluctuating dollar vs. Canadian Dollar issue. Viciuoz said right now with the exchange rate it might be best to convert the currency from US to UK first and then buy.
Here is info on the host they use in Texas, Colo4dallas:

cool, ill add it to the list later today.
Im running a 16 player DP server and a 14 player DDay server off my vps. Looks like im going threw between 100-150 gigs of bandwidth if that helps.
