Title: Build 26
Post by: jitspoe on February 25, 2009, 10:09:51 PM
- Feature: Added "selected" flag to menu system, so a widget can be selected by default when a menu is loaded (for things like password prompts).
- Feature: PNG texture support (Thanks: ViciouZ, R1CH)
- Bugfix: Fixed bug where first letter typed was lost in an edit box if the cursor was beyond the length of the string. 11:09 PM 2/3/2009
- Cvar: cl_crosshairscale - Allows you to change the crosshair size independently of the HUD scale. (Thanks: ViciouZ)
- Cvar: cl_passwordpopup - If set (enabled by default), a password prompt will open when attempting to connect to a passworded server. (Thanks: ViciouZ)
- Media: New splash sounds.

Windows:

Update: http://digitalpaint.epicfail.us/files/paintball2_build026_update_pretest1.exe
Full: http://digitalpaint.epicfail.us/files/paintball2_build026_full_pretest1.exe

Linux:
Full: http://digitalpaint.epicfail.us/files/paintball2_build026_linux_full_pretest1.tar.gz
Minimum server update: http://digitalpaint.epicfail.us/files/paintball2_build026_linux_serverupdate.tar.gz

Hopefully there won't be any glaring errors with this one, like missing sounds

U forgot: - Media: New water sounds.

I like them :)
Chef-Killer said the 'watr_in.wav' sounds a bit like a pgp shot. Idk, maybe his ears are better than mine. I hear at the beginning of the sound two things are falling into the water. Shouldn't it be only one thing?
Wasn't there a sound when i swim?
And u forgot an 'e' in the filename 'watr_***.wav' :P

Or worse. ;)

I just came across some old recordings I had of splashes.  They're not perfect, but I think they're better than the old sounds.  Besides, you have two legs, right? ;)  Perhaps I'll record more splashes later.

There was never a swim sound.

Quote

That's the way the filename has always been.  Probably because of the olden days of 8-character limits in file names (watr_out is 8 characters, so they cut the "e").

I thought u mean the sounds 'splat1' and 'splat2'.

We need a swim sound 8)

*.ogg files can only have 98 characters (+ .ogg) :P But that seems to be enough.

Is there a command to turn vweps off? If your using oldmodels (which are far superior), they just float in the groin area.

Also, when people die, often times after the death animation they remain crouched, and it's hard to tell if they were eliminated, so this can be rather annoying. Again, this may only be for oldmodels, even so I should hope it can be fixed.

Linux files added, though I would recommend not updating servers until the official release has been put out and players have a chance to update to get all of the vwep files.

Nice one for the Linux Version Jitspoe!

The Linux client seems to work fine - I thing though have the sounds changed since 0.23 ? the gun sounds are different.

Also - just in case there are any Archlinux 64bit users you will need these files to play the game

2. Sometimes if i die, there is my weapon on the right side. Never seen that before...

Server.  It should be fixed.  Is it still happening on upgraded servers?

Thanks for the demo, but it looks like all the kills had death animations.  The player staying crouched when killed bug seems to be very rare.  I played like 3 maps on the 3iob server and only saw it happen once.  If somebody can figure out how to reproduce it consistently, let me know, so I can fix it.

As for the weapon on the right, the game used to be like that.  I'm not sure what changes made it go away or brought it back.  Doesn't seem like a big deal, though.  Maybe when I fix the crouch death bug, it'll go away again.

I mean another thing. In the demo, the players often have no death animation. It looks like they are teleported if i kill them. Normaly they are lie down for a short time.

i just upd8ed my build 25 to 26, now i played on OTB speed just for fun, and i saw sum1 who get shot, didn't fall dead, but he looks like when he get shot he crouched, and dissapeared :P

I think if you click after dying, you respawn now (in DM).  When a player respawns, his body disappears.

Good to see, that it is official now :D

Some things:

Old: - Feature: Password support for paintball2:// hyperlinks: paintball2://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx?serverpass (Thanks: ViciouZ)
New: - Feature: Password support for paintball2:// hyperlinks: paintball2://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx&serverpass (Thanks: ViciouZ)

And the links on the files page are correct, but the text says 'build 23'. If u want, u can make our ftp server (ftp://otb-server.de/pub/Game/) as a mirror too.

The password prompt is a hassle. I normally copy the IP in, then copy the PW in from IRC. Now i have to memorize the PW as hitting console while the password prompt is up will DC me from the server.

It's a server-side fix.  That server hasn't been updated yet.

From the OTB speed 1 server:
Code: [Select]
GL_FindImage: can't load pics/barrel3
Seen after a new round started.
Server and Client at build 26.
What map did this happen on?  Did it have any special ent files?  Could you record a demo of this?
Title: Re: Build 26
Post by: T3RR0R15T on March 05, 2009, 08:24:04 AM
I think it was the map ub_4cliff, but i cant find anything in the serverlogs. Maybe it is only in the log, if display_commands is set to 1.

I found a few other things in the logfile:

I hope u can fix the problems. It would be much better, if we have clean logs.

Sometimes:
Code: [Select]
bad connectionless packet from 190.51.255.132:1320:
TSource Engine Query
bad connectionless packet from 94.43.80.20:11957:

bad connectionless packet from 79.114.30.45:7130:
getstatus
bad connectionless packet from 79.114.30.45:7130:
OGP
bad connectionless packet from 79.114.30.45:7130:
FLSQ

Often:
Code: [Select]
Netchan_Transmit: dumped unreliable
Often, but not 'after' each map:
Code: [Select]
[09:13:41] 0:00 left in match.
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for newbie
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for ˆÏÒˆ¿Åˆ¿ˆ¯ÚˆŸÕˆÎ
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for Ownage_nikˆ«ˆ«••’¤¤
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for ˆAšˆ>ˆºÖÉÕÈËÁˆ>‘ˆAš
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for newbie
[09:13:42] SZ_GetSpace: overflow
[09:13:42] WARNING: msg overflowed for ˆA[ˆO***ˆA]ˆ9Maki
.
.
.

And maybe a higher limit for the "Info string length" would be good. So, i hope the logs dont have so many "Info string length exceeded" in it.

Attachments:
- ent file for ub_4cliff
- ultimate overflow logfile (map: prolandr). I hope u finde the reason for it :) (instant_spawn 0; so dont wonder if they doesnt spwan at the same time.)

Title: Re: Build 26
Post by: jitspoe on March 15, 2009, 05:59:40 PM
It's a server side bug, so it shows up on servers running the new version, regardless of what version the players are running.  I'm not sure exactly what causes it, yet.  I think it might be if a player attempts to fire right after dying, but I haven't had time to sit down and test it.  If somebody can find a way to consistently reproduce it, that would help.

e4g1e - sorry if this is just pointing out the obvious.

- Are you sure you have the full version ? - if you have try re-downloading it again.

- one of the mirrors always gave me a a corrupt tar file that didn't completely extract

- Also make sure that you  have entered the paintball2 directory - i.e dont run it from a desktop link - also run with

./paintball2 (rather than sh paintball2)

If I recon right the oss problem is a sound conflict. You can't use music player etc. on the same time.
I remember I might had the other problem too, but don't remember when. Try to fix the sound first. Are you running teh game as root?(gksudo) Try that too.

I think I figured out a way to reproduce the crouch death animation consitently.  This only works on [3ioB] Public Server and with a lot of people.  I found that if I kill someone then look away from it then back at it, it SOMETIMES works (maybe 3/4 or 5/8 chance).

Sorry didn't see new build 'till today.

EDIT:  Probably the reason why jitspoe just put it on the News: because others don't know.
