Here's the plan - track down every old school player you can and notify them about this. We're going to have a blast from the past! It'll be like the 90's all over again... except we're all old now. :\
When: Saturday January 5, 2013 8:00-10:00PM EST
Where: IRC.GlobalGamers.Net #paintball
Who: Ideally people who have been playing since this was a Quake 2 mod. Better yet, Quake 1.
What: Nostalgia fest. Talk about the "good old days." Catch up with old friends and clan mates. Play some old classic maps together. Etc.
Of course, feel free to hang out even if you're not super old school. The time isn't super critical, either. I just figured it would be a good peak time to try to get everybody on at once. The important thing is to just get on and commune.
Also, now is a good time to revive some old clans. I think it would be cool to do some old school clan matches as well. Perhaps if there's enough participation, we could run a little oldschool league for a week or two after the reunion.

I skipped my 15 year high school reunion last month, but I might show up for this. It was a fateful day in 1997 I started playing GLQWPB or whatever it was called. It's funny who is considered oldschool now. I told Nutiket and Picklehead, and sent messages to the numbers I had for oddjob and Red Baron, but it's been years since I talked to them.

Thinking about it ... Need to see if I can remember all my settings... Going to have to tweak all my CL's, mouse settings, etc. etc. etc... I forgot all the lil' tricks. Might have to see if I can find my old .cfg file =)

Late edit: I saw everyone discussing what maps to play. Let's just put palmtree1a on repeat and give it the attention it deserves for once. Battle2 can make an occasional appearance.

this is a good thing. im not q2mod old, but ill try my best to harass those who are.
i didnt read all the posts, but in reply to your last post jitspoe; calrathan, loial, snipen, and any other rascals that aren't currently on the public sex offender list. those are just the ones that might need persuasion.
what are you thinking for a format? something like a 24-28 player pub with super poor rotation would be nice. razzle mcdazzle needs to be in there. let me know if you need help serving.
ps - jitspoe, you meddling killed my clan without permission. i had to reinstate it. cl, i know you pretend not to read this crap, but you do and youre expected to rejoin promptly.

What up intercoursers. One of my old school buddies told me I should show up this weekend, I will try to make it.
If memory serves there is some other Muad'Dib thats been around for a while... this is the OLD OLD school Muad'Dib from when men were men and women were women and Quake online had to be played through QuakeWorld (on a 36k modem for me) - Clan RAGE, Blizzard and all that jazz.

You know guys, been doing alot of reflecting recently with the new news of the baby on the way... Honestly, how privileged we all were and are to be a part of this community. we grew up in a time where the internet was dominated by our generation, gaming was pure, and we freely poured our soul into the games we loved. Sometimes when I look at the /played time in certain games and it seems like alot, I just try to fathom how many hours ive spent looking at crates, and btw, i meddling hate you for that map, and how many years we spent in IRC, playing what I still think, is the best game ever made.
Since I know your going to read this, and it seems like the perfect topic, I just wanted to thank you Jitspoe for dedicating so much of your time to us. Thank you for creating this, and giving everyone one of us reminiscing about our childhood, the perfect place to come back to.
I will return to play this game I love, and Im thrilled to know I will be able to share it with my child :)
