Bug? Player within another Player
« on: April 20, 2008, 03:06:43 PM »
Hello DP,

I have noticed that on some rare occasions, two players will be spawned in the exact same spot. As long as neither of these players moves, they are both invincible (or just very very very difficult to hit), but can still shoot at other players.

Just wondering if this was intentional (seems unlikely) or if it's something that needs to be fixed.

If I remember correctly, it's a bug in the map design. To put it simply, the map creator didn't make enough player spawns so 2 people may spawn inside eachother.

Thanks for the response.

Is there any way that if there are two players spawned in the same spot, they can be offset by a little bit? That should at least be a step in the right direction. Of course, we shouldn't have to get there, but mappers won't always be careful, so unless those are fixed, the issue will still be around, but offsetting a player by a small distance should help.

Another old topic revived!

I think that there should be a delay until the spawn point is free.
Server-side and toggle-able to give those speed server noobs nothing to complain about

Delay, what?  What if your playing Propaint1 with more than 16 players.  Someone will have to wait to spawn?  No.  People should just add more spawn points onto their map or limit the amount of people onto the server, 16 max :).

No, because (unless I'm mistaken) propaint1 has 16 spawn points per team. Therefore the script would look for open spawns and then spawn. The only instance where you get delayed is when no one moves from teh spawns. Also, the delay would be instant, the moment that a spawn is free, it would spawn (presuming revivasl is over lol!).

Mhm.  Plus when you spawn anyone on the spawn point can move through you as long as you havn't moved.  Eg: idlers.  Not sure if this is the same as teleporters.

good theroy but as cam said the big problem is idlers. and sabotage or people just being pricks and not letting others spawn. i like the offset idea but it would take alot of programming wouldnt it?

<edit> i wouldnt say that this is a big problem. i have never seen anyone do this
