So, my computer broke.
« on: March 21, 2009, 06:55:33 AM »
My baby blew up. :(

Do you think this P.O.S. that i'm on right now could even run dp?

It has like a pent 3 500mhz processor, and it's like a 10 year old dell xps.

Has windows 2000 on it but there's a sticker on it that says Made for windows 1998, lol.

I don't think it'll even be able to run it, but i'd like to hear some opinions before i'd go and install it right now for nothing and have it not work.

Well I just downloaded dp, and it says something about making sure I have an OpenGL compatible card.

It has a Nvidia Riva TNT2 Vcard in it, never even heard of it, but im downloading new drivers right now so i'll see how it goes.

Had same problem. Go to control panel>add hardware>and find the one thats got a red X on it. Might be different for your computer :[

Well I tried downloading the driver and it wouldn't let me, so I downloaded Driver Detective, and the last time this card was updated was 1999.  I can't find the right driver for it.  I don't know if it's 64 or 32 or if its normal or pro model... :(

And, I don't feel like torrenting something for driver detective on this slow computer because it costs 30$ to register it. :(

Someone wanna help me find this driver?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.89.html

BUT.......

You must remove your old video drivers first.  You can't just upgrade what you have.

Positive, this is so stupid and it's pissing me off so bad.

Says I have a NVidia Riva TNT2 Card.  Then I download this version 5.3.0.3. driver for it, it works, then it says I have a Nvidia Riva TNT2/TNT2 PRO driver installed...

AHHHHHHHHH

Why does everybody seem to assume it is the drivers causing FPS drops and not the fact that the RivaTNT is an ancient piece of crap? Whack all the settings as low as they can go.

So much hate!!!

I was running this exact card up until 2 years ago.

It works...... but don't expect miracles.

I got that exact driver you said knack, uninstalled it, ran driver sweeper, but yet it still says its not compatible.  I don't understand at all.

But yet the TNT2/TNT2PRO international 5.3.0.3. somehow works?  I don't get that either.

i started quake2 on a p2 266mhz voodoo2 16mb? i forget,

then upgraded to a p3 800mhz voodoo5 5500 agp 32mb?

moved to quake3, then riva tnt2 ultra 64mb and later on to a radeon 8500 pro 128mb which i brought all the way to WoW beta.
