Paintball freezes for 1-2 sec
« on: September 02, 2015, 04:11:29 PM »
Didn't happen before but very often my pb freezes, everything for 1-2 seconds. After that it goes to normal before it occurs again.
On netgraph, it shows white lines at the moment freezing happens.
I also use Bono menu.
Does my internet cause this lag/freez? Because I have no problem with internet speed, everything works just fine. I also suspected graphic card overheating but even with fan speed at 35% it temp is below 60C, and it can go up to 105C...

My PC Specs
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2,33GHz
32-bit, 4GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB

Completely freezes or just lags?  What kind of CPU do you have?  Is there some program running in the background eating up all your processing power occasionally (like a virus scanner?)

I have had a similar problem in the past. It had something to do with my wireless card. Using a LAN-Cable solved this problem.

It completely freezes. I have Avast Free 2015 installed, but I always used Avast in the past and didn't have any problems... I will disable it for a while to see will it make any difference...

Try capping your FPS at 500'ish.  It doesn't really even need to be that high.  Your eyes won't be able to tell much of a difference

If it's an option, try this. Wireless can be a urm bastard. I can't play PB on my notebook with wireless, because for a specific reason every 1-2 minutes it starts to lag for few seconds and then goes back to normal (in my case it lags and I can still move, but as if I had 200-400 ping). I managed to find out that there was a reason to this and that is "Beacon timer". Changing value of this timer made lags happen more/less often, unfortunately I wasn't able to disable beacon timer.

Either way, it is a good way to eliminate whether or not it is caused by your router/network even if my description doesn't fit your case.

Do you by chance hear the device disconnect sound (like when you unplug a USB device) when this happens?  I've seen this happen in some games before and it will cause the game to freeze every 5-10 seconds.

Disabling Avast active protection didn't work. I also tried to limit bandwith for Wi-Fi users, rebooted modem and router still no effect. When I play other online games like Modern Warfare 4, GTA San Andreas over SAMP, or even some games via Bluestacks and Android devices I have no problems. Only in paintball.
You know that speed jump in propaint1? When I strafe jump down the bridge and while I am in the air before that speed ramp/window, and pb freezes I instantly lose my speed, I just freeze in the air and fall down to ground.
With normal lags I would still continue speeding, but here I lose my speed right away and fall down to mid high...

Have you tried playing other OpenGL games, like Quake3?  Are you playing in fullscreen or windowed mode?

No, just pb. Fullscreen. I also tried to limit my fps to 500, but didn't work...

Hm, I'd try a similar OpenGL game like Alien Arena and see if it has the same issue.  Also, see if playing in windowed mode has the same issue.

Same lag happens sometimes when I switch between servers, now I got a error message. Could this be linked to my problem?[img

Yup, when playing in windowed mode no laggs.
